Welcome to Niskayuna Women's Tennis (NWT)!
Playing as members of Schenectady Tennis Association (STA) at Central Park
2025 Outdoor Doubles Leagues
Hi friends
Thanks to those who joined us at Wednesday's kickoff social! We had a fun and relaxing time with old friends and new! See photos at the end of article - scroll all the way to the bottom.
We just learned that because of construction starting soon at Central Park, we cannot play at Central Park. We are excited to continue with our season with some changes! We will be playing mornings at Michigan Avenue and evenings at Niskayuna High School.
We will do our best to manage these changes - please understand there may be challenges with logistics, changes in schedules, etc. We appreciate your patience and understanding!
If you haven't registered, please do so promptly. Our registration deadline is Friday, March 28th. Scroll down for the registration letter.
If you've already registered, you can now submit your payment. Please follow the directions in the registration letter to make your payment either electronically or by check.
One last comment about substitute players - at our event on Wednesday, several friends expressed their frustration with the increased frequency of teammates failing to arrange for substitute players in their absence. Failure to get subs has a negative impact on your teammates. Getting subs takes some effort, we provide a sub player roster, and many of us have done it successfully.
We urge you to think about your schedules. If you cannot commit to a regular schedule, please sign up to play as a "sub only." Our subs often play frequently and are much appreciated.
We thank you for your efforts to ensure a positive experience for all our players!
Let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to another great season of tennis! Feel free to share this with your friends.
Many thanks,
Tina

2025 Outdoor Doubles Leagues
April 21 - June 6, 2025
UPDATED March 20, 2025 - Welcome! On March 19th, we learned that the construction project at Central Park is moving forward and will start as soon as possible once final plans are approved. As a result, we will not be playing at Central Park this year. Here is our alternative plan for 2025:
Niskayuna Women’s Tennis provides a friendly and non-competitive way to enjoy morning doubles tennis. Because of the expected construction, we will play mornings at Central Park and evenings at Niskayuna High School for seven (7) weeks. The $45 fee covers league play, clinics, and doubles mixers.
In addition, when you register for Niskayuna Women’s Tennis (NWT), you are automatically enrolled as a member of Schenectady Tennis Association (STA). While our Niskayuna Women’s Tennis schedule is limited to late April - June, STA offers drop-in doubles play, clinics, and social events throughout the spring, summer, and into the fall. We encourage everyone to take advantage of STA’s playing opportunities, especially when our season ends.
If you have any questions about STA offerings, contact
STA President, Anita Russo

Tennis doubles play sessions. Available sessions are:
Each week we play doubles by rotating partners and opponents within the group.
IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING FINDING SUBS. If you cannot play in a given week, we expect you to find a substitute player. Failing to find subs negatively impacts your teammates. If you cannot commit to a weekly schedule, we urge you to register as a “sub only”. Additionally, failure to find subs may result in your only being allowed to play as a sub in future seasons.
Tennis playing levels
Before you register, please read the descriptions at the end of this message, and carefully choose your playing level (Beginner to A level). If you have any questions about your playing level, please contact one of the officers.
For beginners, we offer instructional drills and Round Robin play with mentors to assist with learning and game flow. Due to the more casual format, beginners do not need to find subs when they cannot play.
Registration deadlines and fees - Registration fees are $45. Registration deadline is Friday, March 28th.
Please note that because of uncertainty regarding this season, we decided to waive late fees for this year.
However, as the registrar assigns players to teams, late registrants may be assigned as “subs only” if spaces on doubles teams are not available. Please note, after play begins there are NO REFUNDS.
Registration payments: We currently are taking payments both electronically and by check.
Please note: there is a small transaction fee added to electronic payments
Electronic payments: Choose NWT (not STA) when you click here NWT Electronic Payments .
